Welcome

6C82FA3F-120D-457A-B5FF-CB629B73BAE2.JPG

Located in Seattle and Edmonds, my psychotherapy practice is accepting new clients. I employ a variety of theoretical orientations and modalities, from attachment theories, family systems, object relations, cognitive behavioral therapy, and play and art therapy. Theory gives us a foundation to conceptualize, but it is the individual, context, and culture which inform our work.

About ME

Experience

I have over 20 years of therapy experience working in community mental health and private practice. Additionally, I have over 10 years of experience working in schools, as a therapist in the schools, and also as a school counselor in private school settings.

My professional experience has allowed me to work closely with youth, understand them for who they are, and how their daily life, families, friends, and society see them. I am acutely aware of how an individual’s culture interacts with personal dynamics.

Education

I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy (2001) from Pepperdine University. I earned my Bachelors of Arts from the University of Washington, with a major in Sociology (1997).

Personal

My name is Lena Yim, and I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2005. I enjoy my work with children, adolescents, individuals and families.

I am a mom to three children. They each have dynamic and unique personalities, which have been served through traditional, as well as alternative education modalities. I love how differently each of us learn and grow.

My parents and siblings were born in China, I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I have lived most of my adult life in Seattle. My background allows me to fully appreciate the immigrant story, and the importance of understanding a person in their world.
